What is Eduroam?
Eduroam is a system that is employed by many universities to allow visitors to access their wireless networks using their ‘home’ credentials. For example, a University of Toronto community member can connect to the Ryerson University wireless network by entering "UTORid@utoronto.ca" (substituting the individual UTORid) and password. A Ryerson University community member can connect to the University of Toronto’s wireless network using their assigned credentials.
How do I get set up to use Eduroam?
To use the Eduroam service, you must configure your wireless device as described in the setup documents on this website. If your device is not documented, you may still be able to connect. Please refer to other sources of information or help for unsupported devices or platforms.
Does Eduroam work everywhere?
Unfortunately, no. Check the Eduroam website for a list of participating institutions.
How do I get help with using Eduroam?
It’s important to make sure that your device works with Eduroam before you travel to another institution. Staff and faculty should contact their IT service providers, students should contact their campus IT helpdesk.

How does Eduroam work?
Eduroam is a class of ‘federated access’ service. On the supplicant (or client) side, it is implemented using 802.1X/EAP PEAP v0. Authentication information is transported over RADIUS traffic. The service is fully documented at the international Eduroam site.
What kind of help will end users need to set this up?
The client installation is documented on this site but it is somewhat involved so some users may have trouble on their own.
Should U of T users connect to the Eduroam SSID instead of the UofT SSID while they're at U of T?
No. Currently the eduroam SSID and the UofT SSID works but this may be changed in the future.
